<P> </P>龍膽草︰味苦微酸，性寒，色黃屬土，為胃家正藥。
<P> </P>其苦也能降胃氣、堅胃質，其酸也能補益胃中酸汁、消化飲食，凡胃熱氣逆、胃汁短少、不能食者，服之可以開胃進食，西人渾以健胃藥稱之，似欠精細。
<P> </P>為其微酸屬木，故又能入膽肝、滋肝血、益膽汁、降肝膽之熱使不上炎，舉凡目疾、吐血、衄血、二便下血、驚癇、眩暈、因肝膽有熱而致病者，皆能愈之。
<P> </P>其瀉肝膽實熱之力，數倍於芍藥，而以斂戢肝膽虛熱，固不如芍藥也。
